Teddy Carpenter is a force to be reckoned with in the ever-changing world of the entertainment business. He has developed a style and a disposition that makes one take notice of his talent. Teddy started his stand up career in 1988. In the early years, Teddy won a number of standup comedy competitions including the Arsenio Hall competition and Funniest Man in DC. He then appeared on Showtime at the Apollo in 1990 as a professional stand-up comic. It was then he knew he had the gift to command an audience as he received that elusive standing ovation in the building of which legends are made. After the Apollo, Teddy did a series of shows with the late, great Robin Harris, i.e. performing at the Comedy Act theatre, the hottest comedy club in LA. In 1991 the world saw Teddy Carpenter when he appeared on the original Def Comedy Jam and received one of the highest rated performances to this date. He appeared on Def Comedy Jam a total of three times receiving standing ovations for all three shows. He also headlined the very 1st Def Comedy Jam All-Star tape featuring Eddie Griffin. Teddy is recognized as one of the best up and coming professional comedians in the business. After Def Comedy Jam, Teddy began touring and performing with some of the hottest comics of today such as Bernie Mac, DL Highly, Steve Harvey, Cheryl Underwood, Arnez J, Earthquake, Eddie Griffin and Adele Givens. He’s the only comic who’s Head lined over all of The Kings of Comedy. Teddy has performed with some great musical acts such as Rick James and Tina Marie to the Whispers, Isley Brothers, Phyllis Hyman, Bell Bev Devoe, R. Kelly and many more. Teddy Carpenter did various projects including: a number of TV pilots, guest hosting NBC’s late night show, Later which came .. Conan O’Brian. From the early 90’s Teddy has been touring regularly at largest theatre venues across the country. Such venues include the Chicago Theatre, Constitution Hall, Houston Arena, and the Fox in both Atlanta and Detroit. He also appeared in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In 1995 Teddy Carpenter created and helped produce a late night talk show with Tribune Entertainment called In the Dark with Teddy Carpenter. In the world of standup comedy, Teddy Carpenter is legendary, with 3 half hour specials and 1 one hour special on BET he has cemented his status in the urban community. Now his focus is on writing his first movie script and creating an on line talk show. Teddy Carpenter is still known as the under boss of comedy and still pound for pound one of the very best in his line of work.
