Salina was born in the Rio Grande Valley at the southern tip of Texas, near the border of Mexico. At age six, she fell in love with the stage, performing a dance to, “Footloose,” in a pink tutu. Two years later, she performed at the Rio Fest County Fair, winning her category with a rendition of Streisand’s, “Somewhere.” Through her teens she sang in the school choir, and acted in plays, competing with other schools across Texas. At seventeen, Salina advanced to the finals of a state-qualifying singing event where she inexplicably lost her voice. Winning a scholarship to American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Salina moved to New York City to pursue acting. After graduating, she landed parts in off-off Broadway productions, small roles in independent films, and worked privately with vocal coach, Dr. David Fairchild. In 2001, she was invited to join the choir at The Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew in Brooklyn, NY. After falling in love, getting married, and starting a family, Salina found her voice again. Picking up a borrowed guitar - learning to play using her voice as a guide - she began writing songs. This Fall, at her 6th Annual Halloween event in New York City, Salina will launch her debut album and career along with a music video for her song “Up in the Trees.” A series of performances, concerts, and cabaret acts will follow. Salina is classically trained and currently working with Emily Olin, pianist and vocal coach.
