Sandy Bainum began her career in David Merrick’s legendary production of 42nd Street, playing the featured role of Annie, both on tour and on Broadway. During a stop at Washington’s National Theatre, she caught the eye of then Maryland State Senator Stewart Bainum, whom she married soon after. Sandy’s career flourished in her new home of Washington, D.C., where she has appeared in productions at the Kennedy Center, The Signature Theatre, The Washington Savoyards and The Atlas Theatre, where she received a 2010 Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Marion in “The Music Man.” Sandy returns to New York with “Excuse My Dust,” a cabaret piece about the life, loves and writings of Mrs. Dorothy Parker, a show she created with Lanny Meyers, an EMMY-Award winning composer/arranger. The two also collaborated on Sandy’s first CD, entitled ‘Believe,” an eclectic mix of Broadway standards and pop favorites.
