 Kimmy Gatewood is an improviser, guitar comic, comedy writer, film producer, solo performer, theatre director, and actress. She’s a renaissance woman who does it all with zest, humor, and passion. Her sometimes dirty, often goofy charm delivers raw energy and silliness that appeals to a broad audience.

Kimmy sings songs with her guitar, notably opening up for Sarah Silverman and Wendy Liebman. She wrote the theme songs for The Comic Book Club and Craft Riot, among other live shows. She has many songs recorded, but has never put them together on an album. She hopes to put together an album called "Songs I Should Recorded Ten Years Ago."

As a writer, Kimmy was a contributing writer to Idiot’s Guide to Jokes, Gawker, Jest Magazine, ESPN, girlcomic.net, Pipe Up! , and the Oxygen Network. She is currently writing and developing several screenplays and pilots.

Kimmy has been seen and heard on TV, radio, and the web (Kimmy on imdb.com) Kimmy made her professional debut with Sam Waterston in an acclaimed production of Long Day's Journey Into Night at Syracuse Stage. She studied improv at UCB Theatre, The PIT, Second City, and Comedy Sportz. She performed and toured for 3 1/2 years with the Off Broadway show Chicago City Limits. She's performed hundreds of improv groups, notably, Suppertime, The Faculty, Neutrino Video Projects, and Not the Apple Sisters. She has been in what seems like 3000 live shows . She was an Andy Kaufman Semi-Finalist in the NY Comedy Festival. Kimmy is an acclaimed solo performer, herself, having written six solo shows and performing them at prestigious theatres around the country. Her show "Look on the Bright Side" garnered her an ECNY Nomination for Best Musical Act and Best of 2005 by Time Out NY. Her show "The Engagement" sold out for three months straight. She recently did a residency at Ars Nova in New York writing a trilogy of shows "The Hat-trick."

Kimmy has produced and directed for the stage and the screen. Her direction in the NY production of Kidnapped by Craigslist garnered her a ECNY Nomination for Best Director. She produced and directed her first feature documentary entitled Nerdcore Rising (South by Southwest 2008) which is now on netflix and B-side films. She teaches her characters and improv classes around the country and coaches and directs solo performers.

Currently, Kimmy is a member of the Story Pirates in Los Angeles. Kimmy can be seen at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, CA performing her solo shows and with the highly acclaimed 1940’s singing and dancing trio, The Apple Sisters. The Apple Sisters are currently developing a movie with Mark Gordon & Co. and will be appearing in the upcoming Kristen Wiig movie produced by Judd Apatow. She also started a feather hair accessory company with fellow Apple Sisters, Rebekka Johnson called Nerds of a Feather.
