Musician, comedian, songwriter, emcee, Rick Garrett is all this, and more.
Rick first discovered the gift of laughter in high school, and soon, instead of studying, was already working on his craft of making people laugh. Shortly after, he discovered guitar, and a life on stage was born.
Studying theater, Rick toured nationally with a production of The Music Man. After that, he had a couple of years layover in Branson, Missouri, working at some of the finest theaters as an emcee, storyteller, musician, and, on the best of days, head popcorn popper.
For the next 25 years, Rick toured with the acoustic band Shady Grove, playing at places like the world famous Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival, the 500 festival in Indianapolis, festivals and theaters all over the Midwest, opening for such greats at The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ricky Skaggs, and many more.
Fast forward to 2010, when Rick saw an ad for the Cabana Room Comedy Contest in Indianapolis, Rick entered on a whim, and won an appearance on TV's Who's Laughing Now. Over the next two years, Rick became one of the founding members and emcee of The Senior Comedy Tour, became a part of the As Seen on TV Comedy Tour, and has appeared at comedy clubs, pubs, theaters, and festivals throughout the midwest.
Rick currently hosts the "Stars on Stage" show in Indianapolis, as well as making appearances at comedy clubs, theaters, and other venues all over the midwest.
A former firefighter and paramedic, Rick draws heavily on real life experiences in his set. In addition, Rick's 20+ plus years in professional ministry, as well as 30+ years as a touring musician, have given Rick a wealth of insights on the human experience.
Rick's comedy is PG rated, and he is more than happy to tailor a show to fit your special needs. Whether a comedy club, civic group, corporate outing, or lodge, Rick will bring a smile to your face.
Rick works with a number of midwest comedians, and is very capable of putting together an evening of comedians to fit whatever your particular need may be.
