I am originally from Puerto Rico, which I left in 1996 to pursue a career in acting. I moved to California and it stole my heart... even though I am not planning on moving back at the moment... I will always love Puerto Rico because it is filled with mi familia y amigos, and I miss the island on a daily basis... but, I love what I do and I know that I would not be able to do it anywhere else. My passion is the stage, the camera and being able to entertain. This is my calling.
When I first moved from Puerto Rico, I ended up in the Bay Area pursuing a career in Theater. It was a dream job since I had just received my degree in Drama from the University of Puerto Rico. I was only 21 years old, and I found myself in a strange land, filled with opportunities.
Because I am so driven, I felt unstoppable. The stage was like home. I worked as a theater actress for 9 years with companies such as Teatro Vision, Teatro Esperanza, Kaiser Permanente ETP and The Western Stage. I also taught improv and drama for an afterschool program named Opera Piccola, because I believe that a vital part of success is in community investment. During this period, I did several voiceovers for Mattel and Leapfrog as well. My work was steady, but there was still a missing piece to my career...
I wanted to try film and everyone knows that Los Angeles is the film capitol. I made the move and after a few tough auditions, I learned that I needed to embrace the art of improv.
It was the best move I ever made. I got my creative juices going and even though it was challenging, I found it very fulfilling. I began studying with IO west until a girlfriend invited me to try a stand up class in 2008. Pretty Funny Women became my platform for a stand up career...
Since then I have performed in clubs like The Comedy Union, Ice House, Haha cafe, Laugh Factory, The Comedy Store, Flappers and my favorite of all, The Downtown Comedy Club. I currently run an all-female stand up comedy show once a month at the Restaurant La Fonda in Los Angeles. In the future I would like to be a part of a sitcom show and perform my act on the road.
